Belize Vacations

Belize is an excellent vacation destination as it provides a relaxed tropical atmosphere just 2 hours away from major North American airports. 40% of this land has been set aside for parks and wildlife reserves making it perfect for the eco-vacation backpacker.

Geographically, Belize is located in Central America, bordering the Carribean Sea in between Mexico and Guatemala.  It is a small square shaped region in the map with a total area of 22, 960 sq. km.   The major cities of Belize are Belize City (the capital), Dangriga, Orange Walk, and San Ignacio de Agana with the major ports being at Belize City and Dangriga.

Belize vacation is mostly enjoyed by tourists, backpackers, diver because of it unique tourists spots and natural wonders:

Xunantunich in San Ignacio is one ot the most unique tourist spots found in Belize.  Xunanturich used to be a city during the Mayan period.  In this place, you will find a number of  Mayan temples overlooking the Moyan river.  The El Castillo is the main temple which takes 130 steps to go up. To get there, you will have to ride a ferry from the main city. 

Western Belize Caves in San Ignacio, Chaa Creek Natural History Center in San Ignacio, Caracol in San Ignacio, Mountain Pine Ridge Reserve in San Ignacio, Cahal Pech in San Ignacio are among the tourists destinations in Belize.

The famous Blue Hole

The Blue Hole one of the most popular wonders in Belize.  Lying across the ocean of Belize, this 300 feet wide and 400 feet deep hole challenges diving enthusiasts around the world.  The holes are previously known to be caves during the Ice Age but when ice melts, it covers the caves.  Inside the hole are beautiful coral reefs, fishes and a number of sea wonders.

Among the famous natural wonders in Belize are the Maya Mountains and the Carribean Sea, the islands or cayes, and the white sand beaches.
