Colombia weather is that of a country close to the equator. In fact, the equator crosses Colombia in its southern region. This means that the areas of low elevation will constantly be hot. However, the temperatures will drop greatly per each 1,000 feet of elevation (to the tune of 3.5 degrees Fahrenheit per 1,000 feet). The rainfall tends to be greater as you get farther south and closer to the equator.

On the northern coast, the climate is very tropical. Of course in the tropics there are only two seasons: rainy and dry. The rainy season goes from May until November and the dry season is from December until April. The best time to visit the country is during the dry season–especially the December until February timeframe as these are the driest months.
